Description
A true suspended luminous sculpture, the “Stalactites” model designed by Charles J. Weinstein circa 1931 fully embodies the spectacular aesthetic of the Art Deco movement. Its architecture evokes a crystalline star or an explosion of ice frozen in time.

The finely structured metal frame supports a constellation of molded-pressed, cut and delicately frosted glass cones. Each point captures and diffuses the light with subtlety, creating a play of brilliance and transparency of rare elegance. Lit, the chandelier offers a soft and enveloping glow; unlit, it remains a striking graphic and architectural work of art.

The glass elements are signed by the renowned Parisian glassmaker Degué, which collaborated with designers such as Charles J. Weinstein. Degué manufactured the glass components according to the designers’ drawings, combining technical mastery with refined aesthetics.

An iconic piece, both decorative and sculptural, intended for discerning collectors and admirers of exceptional Art Deco design.

Degué Workshop
Degué was a renowned Parisian glassmaking house active mainly during the 1930s and 1940s, specializing in Art Deco lighting. The house was celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship in molded-pressed, cut, and frosted glass, used for high-quality chandeliers, wall sconces, and lamps.

Degué operated as a true production workshop: designers conceived the models, and the workshop executed the glass pieces based on those drawings, uniting technique and artistry. This collaboration between creators and craftsmen was characteristic of the Art Deco period and resulted in lighting fixtures that were both elegant and enduring.

Today, pieces signed Degué are highly sought after by collectors for their quality, originality, and their place within the great tradition of 1930s French lighting design.
