Specialising in Tribal Art, decorative art, and objects of curiosity
Large and highly decorative botanical teaching model representing Nepenthes (Pitcher Plant), family Nepenthaceae, produced for educational use in schools and universities.
This example is mounted on its original turned black wooden base with metal support, and bears the oval identification label “Nepenthes / Nepenthaceae”. The base also retains the original red paper seal of G.B. Paravia (Torino), the well-known Italian educational publisher and distributor, indicating historical distribution through Paravia’s network.
These models were produced in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th century, most notably by the Brendel workshop, and are today sought after for their sculptural quality and rarity.
