This bronze female bust is a refined work by the French sculptor Emmanuel Villanis (1858–1914), an artist recognized as one of the most highly regarded representatives of Art Nouveau sculpture at the turn of the 20th century. The sculpture depicts a young woman with a calm and introspective gaze, her hair flowing in delicate form. The careful treatment of volumes and textures reveals great artistic mastery. The original patina, with its golden-brown hues, lends warmth and softness to the whole. The bust rests on an elegant red marble base, giving the composition an architectural presence and a luxurious character.
