This elegant bronze bust depicts Carmela, one of the best-known female models by the French sculptor Emmanuel Villanis (1858–1914), a major figure in Art Nouveau sculpture around 1900. The work is distinguished by a serene expression, delicate facial modeling, and abundant, finely sculpted hair. The original patina, with its warm tones, highlights the quality of execution and testifies to the skill of the bronze casters of the Belle Époque period. The bust is integrated into its sculpted base bearing the title "Carmela," and offers a remarkable decorative presence as well as genuine artistic interest. Foundry Mark. The official mark of the Paris Bronze Society, a prestigious foundry active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is found on the reverse of the base.
