The subject depicts Moses' intervention in the land of Midian, when shepherds tried to prevent the seven daughters of the priest Jethro from accessing a well. They had come to draw water and fill troughs to water their father's flocks. The shepherds arrived and drove them away. Moses rose, came to their aid, and watered the flocks. Jethro offered Moses hospitality and gave him his daughter Zipporah in marriage. French School, 17th century. Oil on canvas: with frame, width 86 cm, height 75 cm.
