The painting is signed by the artist Giuseppe Giusti on the back and bears a title identifying its subject as the ancient village of San Remo. Giuseppe Giusti, born in Savignano sul Panaro (Modena), was a pupil of Augusto Rivalta. The artist was active as a sculptor, painter, etcher and lithographer. His painting style in particular was influenced not only by his master Rivalta but also by the Impressionist movement.
