Very fine pair of gilt-bronze wall lights with three branches,
Louis XVI period, circa 1780, 18th century, after a model by the celebrated architect and ornament designer Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734–1789).
This pair of sconces is finely chiselled with acanthus leaves, laurel, pinecones and flaming urns, gilded with their original mercury gilding.
In perfect condition.
From an important private collection.

Historical note:
Jean-Charles Delafosse was an important theorist of the Louis XV style and the early Neoclassical movement. His influence is evident in the decoration of Parisian aristocratic houses in the 1760s–1780s.
