17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Important "Verdure" tapestry produced in the 18th century in the workshops of the Aubusson region.
Our tapestry features a succession of planes to create a beautiful sense of depth.
Tall trees rise to the full height of the tapestry, while in the foreground, thickets of various plants and flowers appear.
In the middle ground, a park is enlivened by two ducks paddling in a pond near a fountain.
A white stone balustrade draws the eye towards the background, suggesting the presence of humans.
A "Verdure" tapestry is one whose main theme is nature. These compositions were primarily created for ornamental purposes, as evidenced by our tapestry, which also features a highly decorative border teeming with elegant bouquets of flowers intertwined with foliage and fruit.
The freshness of the weaving's color palette, depicting vegetation in numerous shades of green, is particularly noteworthy. This tapestry is lined.
A hook system allows for easy hanging.
