Large pastel depicting Andromeda chained to the rock, awaiting her deliverance by Perseus. Ethiopian princess, daughter of King Cepheus, she is a victim of her mother Cassiopeia's pride. Exposed on a rock to be devoured by a sea monster, she is narrowly saved by Perseus, whose wife she will become. Signed lower right A.
