Sèvres Manufactory, 1846
Flower painting by Alexandre Jean Louis Comolera (1817–1847)
Gilding and decoration by Louis Antoine Lahaye (1812–1849)
This pair of vases was produced at the Sèvres Royal Manufactory in 1846. The bodies are covered with a deep azure-blue ground, featuring finely painted floral still lifes within oval reserves, richly framed with gilded scrollwork and ruby-red enamel cabochons. The elegant gilt twin handles and square gilt bases enhance the classical balance and sophistication typical of the late July Monarchy style.
