A Japanese bronze sculpture of the Tokyo School, depicting a young mother walking with her child tied to her back.
The woman wears a soft kimono fastened at the waist with an obi. Her torso leans slightly forward to support the child, who reaches toward her and gently touches her face with one hand in an affectionate gesture. With her left hand, the mother delicately caresses the child’s foot, offering slight support, while with her right she holds a traditional hat, meticulously crafted to reproduce the weave of straw.
The sculpture is signed along the edge and rests on a circular base in black lacquered wood.
