Glass And Sterling Silver Pilgrim's Flask

Pilgrim flask in finely cut clear glass, mounted with a rich pierced sterling silver mount decorated with scrollwork, lambrequins and cartouches.
The flattened body is girdled by a chain. On each side, a circular enameled medallion depicting a rooster and a flower.
The neck is embellished with openwork scrolls and fitted with two lateral handles terminating in horse heads.
The circular base bears friezes of ovolo motifs, fruit and scrolls.
Stopper in cut red glass with a sterling silver collar.

Marks: Hanau mark, second half of the 19th century; French “Swan” import control mark.
