Pair of gilt-bronze candlesticks, Empire period, circa 1810
Tapering stem resting on a finely chased circular base.
The same chased decoration appears on the upper section.
Attributed to Claude Galle.
Each candlestick is composed of 8 elements.
Very good condition.
Claude Galle (1759–1815), bronzier and founder-chaser, received master in 1786 and active on rue Vivienne, supplied the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne under Louis XVI and, above all, under the Empire. He notably delivered works for the châteaux of the Trianons, Fontainebleau, Saint-Cloud, Compiègne, and the Palais des Tuileries.
