Pair of Fine Gilt Empire Candelabra, Early 19th Century A superb pair of French Empire-style gilt bronzecandelabra, richly ornamented and finely cast, dating to the early 19thcentury. Each candelabrum is designed with three scrolling candle arms arrangedaround a central fluted stem, surmounted by a flame-form finial. The stems are supported by elegantly modeled classicalfigures: one depicting a winged male youth (likely Cupid or Eros) holding abow, and the other a draped female figure in the manner of a classical muse orgoddess. Both figures stand gracefully upon stepped pedestals. The bases are of architectural form, decorated in highrelief with neoclassical motifs including an antique oil lamp, laurel wreaths, crossed elements, and stylized ram heads, all symbolizing victory, enlightenment, and classical antiquity—hallmarks of the Empire period. The original fire-gilding (ormolu) retains a warm, rich patina, highlighting the exceptional quality of the chasing and detailthroughout. Condition: Very good antique condition with minor wearconsistent with age and use. Origin: FrancePeriod: Empire, circa 1800–1820 Dimensions: H57,5 x W20 x D18cm. H22,63 x W7,87 x D7,09 inch
