Edmond ALET (1867-1917) - Pointillist Interior

Edmond ALET 1867-1917

Cabinetmaker, painter, engraver, like his brother Maurice, he had many talents.

Originally from Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Maurice and his brother Edmond came from a modest background of artisan bakers.

They moved to Toulouse at the end of the 19th century and took woodworking classes taught by Jean Rivière at the city's School of Fine Arts.

Influenced by their teacher's teachings, they were committed to a neo-regionalist but modern style, with the motto “Beauty in utility.”

In 1898, the two brothers joined forces to found the La Ruche store at 26 rue Saint-Antoine-du-T, where they made and sold furniture.
Maurice designed the furniture, Edmond produced the drawings, and Marie-Françoise, his wife, did the marquetry.
The business flourished.

In addition to marquetry, Edmond painted gentle, poetic works that glorified everyday life.
Landscapes and interiors with a beautiful pointillist technique like ours.
This one is dated 1902.
