The structure and composition of the group is dominated by the transverse sarcophagus, whose lid is lifted by two wingless angels positioned at the sides, and from which Jesus emerges. His right leg is placed over the edge, the right hand raised in a blessing gesture, the left hand, which probably once held a flag, is missing. In front of him are two of the armored guards, just awakening. Their armor is imaginatively designed in the Mannerist style; the helmet of the right guard extends far down to the shoulder, the breastplate of the left bears a mascaron with a chain attached to it, as well as a beard in the Turkish style.
