A pair of powder-blue porcelain vases, China, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period (1622-1722).
Hexagonal baluster shape, the deep blue body and neck are embellished with delicate gold decoration depicting an immortal on one side and flowers on the other (rather faded).
The preciousness of these vases was magnified by a chased and gilded bronze mounting at the end of the eighteenth century.
The base and neck are encircled by a frieze, the sinuous handles, in the great Rocaille style, composed of spiky acanthus leaves, are applied to the neck.
