ATTENDU Antoine Ferdinand 1845-1927
Still life painter.
Encouraged by an attentive teacher, he enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, where he trained in the classical techniques of academic drawing and oil painting.
He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1870 to 1905.
He presented six of his paintings at the first Impressionist exhibition at Nadar's in 1874.
Although his work includes scenes of everyday life and rural landscapes, the painter is best known as a specialist in still life. He displays a remarkable sense of detail and composition, combined with a subtle use of light and shadow that highlights the different textures and nuances of fruit.
