Old Masters Paintings and Antique Furniture from the 16th to the 18th century
A splendid pair of five-light candelabra with a white marble base and gilded bronze body depicting vases, which support the lights with elegance.
The bases, embellished with gilded bronze friezes with animal motifs, add further elegance to the candelabra, bringing richness, warmth and colour to the surroundings.
All the casting is well gilded with mercury amalgam and is played on the contrast between the matt and shiny parts. Made in France in the Empire style, they are objects of great class and refinement, capable of enriching any room with their sophisticated style.
The Empire style, which flourished between 1804 and 1815, represents the last phase of Neoclassicism and is inextricably linked to Napoleon Bonaparte's rise to power. Created in France to celebrate the emperor's greatness and his achievements, it quickly spread throughout Europe, profoundly influencing architecture, furniture, decorative arts and the visual arts.
Measures 55 cm high and 24 cm wide between arms; octagonal bases in white marble height 8 cm width 14 cm.
