Important Louis XIII giltwood military trophy frame
France, 17th century

This rare frame we are offering is made of golden leag gilt limewood and richly carved with laurel leaves embellished with berries, flowers, and oak acorns, with corners decorated with acanthus leaves.
The pediment, adorned with military trophy, houses a cartouche with intertwined numbers C and probably D (unidentified).
The lower section houses a second cartouche in its center within a leafy frame.
