Pair of Large Plaster Medallions, after The Thorvaldsen’ Marbles

Pair of monumental plaster medallions, faithful replicas of the marble originals sculpted by B. Thorvaldsen in Rome in 1815.
This famous motif was widely used for the ornamentation of Nordic Palaces, notably in Berlin and St. Petersburg.
With its symmetrical vis-à-vis, it perfectly balances the facing spaces separated by doors or mirrors.
