Spectacular “Au mascaron” chateau mirror with glass beads
The central rectangular mirror is framed by double molded Bérain-style moldings and adorned at each corner with a spandrel featuring a large shell flanked by a fine branch. It is surmounted by an exceptional curved pediment with double glazing beads, topped by a cartouche featuring a majestic mascaron of an expressive bearded man wearing a plumed crown. On either side are garlands of flowers interrupted by a chimera profile. The shoulders feature a stylized acanthus on an entablature. The piece ends with a cascade of scrolls, garlands of flowers and pig tails.
