Cartel and its frame from the Louis XIV period, veneered with red tortoiseshell and inlaid with copper in the Boulle style. Rectangular in shape and surrounded by fluted ormolu pilasters, its ormolu dial is supported by acanthus scrolls and centred on an arabesque décor. It is composed of twelve blue enamelled cartouches with Roman numerals set in a bronze frame indicating the minutes in numerals. It is crowned by a rectangular dome adorned with an openwork balustrade and eight ormolu fire pots.
The case ends in an acanthus leaf base in gilt bronze.
The movement was modified in the 18th century.
