A number of these large figurines can be found in the Royal Houses of Europe, placed on sconce brackets (Amalienborg Palace in Denmark, the Palace of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland in Dresden, Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, etc.).
Much of the porcelain from Dehua (Fujian Province) is known in the West as ‘Blanc de Chine’. It has been made since the Ming dynasty and is renowned for its ‘Ivory White’ or ‘Milky White’ colour, due to the quality of the local deposits used in its manufacture.
