19th Century, Large French Gilt Bronze and Crystal Chandelier with Twelve

This elegant and refined chandelier was made in France in the early nineteenth century.
The structure is in finely chiselled gilded bronze, adorned with a rich crystal decoration of different shapes. The whole develops around a large circle with moving elements from which twelve curvilinear arms depart, ending in a curl, which support the circular bobbins with twelve lights. Below is a second bronze circle. Equally above, a perforated ring and shaped like a balustrade encircles four curved and bronze elements that soar upwards and continue in pairs to form a wavy and summit decoration with curly elements. The bronzes are embellished with applications also in gilded bronze chiseled figures of mermaids, faces of winged cherubs, phytomorphic elements and flowers.
The upper part of the chandelier, near the ceiling anchoring system, consists of a bronze element from which several curvilinear elements are inserted in the bronzes that fold gently cascading to support a series of crystals that crown with great elegance the composition of the whole.
The cut crystal decoration, with elements of different shapes and sizes, embellishes the chandelier ensuring the diffusion of light and creating a pleasant scenic effect.
The chandelier, working, is very decorative and unusual line. Its peculiarity also includes the possibility of presenting it in two different forms: from the central element it is possible to anchor or not a bronze element connected with the perimeter ring by rows of crystals. The effect can therefore be more collected with a more developed set, at the bottom of the chandelier, horizontally, or stretched down, giving the whole an image more inclined to verticality (the height from 130 can then become 180 cm)
The chandelier retains the gracefulness and elegance that distinguishes the Louis XVI style. The preciousness of gold and the brightness of the crystals, in which the light is reflected, contribute to make it a valuable piece of furniture and easy to fit into any environment, perfect with the ancient and with modern furnishings.
