Solid beechwood office or desk armchair, molded and carved, with a cane base.
It rests on 4 arched legs, joined by a sinuous belt on which emerges on the front a beautiful stylized shell sculpture in a cartouche. This motif is found inverted in the upper crosspiece of the backrest.
The shoulders of the legs are carved with beautiful and generous foliage; the side belts are decorated with a rocaille.
Parisian work from the Louis XV period.
Stamped twice E.MEUNIER, it also bears an old BD
Restaurations property mark (small joints at the ends of the legs).

Established on rue de Cléry, this skilled seat carpenter worked for very fashionable merchants such as Migeon, supplier to the court, or Etienne Igou. His workshop survived until the end of the reign of Louis XV. All the seats bearing his stamp are of very good quality.
