Oval-shaped painting painted on canvas, representing the city of Istanbul and the Golden Horn.
In the foreground appears the Bosphorus with various boats.
In the second plan is represented on the right bank the various historical monuments of the old town: the Souleymane mosque as well as the blue mosque.
On the left bank appears the Genoese tower of Galata.
Finally, in the third plan we can admire a splendid sunset, icon of oriental light.
The painting has a gilded wooden frame from the same period.
The Painter Salvatore Fergola, born April 24, 1799 in Naples and died March 7, 1874 in the same city, is an Italian painter, particularly known for his representations of landscapes around Naples.
He is one of the most important representatives of the Pausilippus school, he paints his vedute in the open air and with constantly changing light effects.
NB: good general condition, slightly yellowed varnish, recanvassed, original frame, signature on the right side.
