This marble bust from the second half of the 17th century depicts an elegant young woman, wrapped in a fine fabric that sensually reveals her left breast. The drapery is sculpted with remarkable realism, evoking folds and curves of almost palpable fluidity. The latter, along with our model's elongated nose with its frank bridge, her small mouth with its fleshy lips and her sensual flesh, allow us to associate our sculpture with the Genoese School, which at the time was home to some of the greatest names in Italian sculpture, such as Antonio Parodi, Giacomo Antonio Ponsonelli and the Schiaffino brothers.
