Born in 1884 in Port-sur-Saône (Haute-Saône), Alexandre Theuvenot or Thevenot was a student of Charles Gleyre and Jean-Léon Gérôme at the École Impériale des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1864 and 1870 and at the same time in various Provincial Salons (Toulouse, Besançon, Rouen, Le Havre, etc.) where he was awarded an award for what made his reputation: ornithological study paintings.
He was also a professor of graphic design and imitation at the colleges of Rennes and Laval. We know of a copy by Ingres of Christ handing over the keys to Saint-Pierre in the church of Treignac (Corrèze).
The artist died on December 2, 1882, in Paris.
