Louis XV Cartel In Gilt Bronze attributed to Jacques Caffiéri (1678-1755)

Exceptional and unique cartel in finely chiseled gilded bronze, decorated with garlands of flowers and large scrolled acanthus leaves framing the opus and the dial.

At the top, a young cupid wearing a “pagdi”, a traditional Indian hat, holding in his right hand a quiver filled with arrows symbolizes Asia.
On the lower part, a Native American woman decorated with feathers embodies America.

The dial is white enamel. The dark blue colored Roman numerals indicate the hours, while the Arabic numerals above indicate the minutes.
It is made up of two winders, one for the movement and the other for the striking.

Signed "Jn LEROY A PARIS" on the back of the movement (movement to be revised).
