A superb Italian work, probably from Tuscany. This exceptional pair of Monstrances- reliquaries is in carved, gilded and multi-lobed wood decorated with acanthus leaves and rockeries. It houses 22 embedded reliquary medallions containing so-called exiguous relics of 37 Saints or Martyrs.

On the back are almost as many episcopal seals of red wax as capsules which attest to the presence of the relic (however missing a seal ).
Three later authentic ones confirm the quality of the relics presented and more especially that of Saint Philippe de Neri (authentic from 1868), those of Saint Jean Baptiste by Archbishop Marie-Alphonse Sonnois, born in 1828 and a last one from 1855 consecrating the relics of Saint Paul the apostle.
