Empire period planter

A rare circular-shaped planter in speckled mahogany decorated with rich, very finely chiseled and mercury-gilded bronze trim. The bronzes attributed to Pierre Philippe THOMIRE (1751-1843), famous Parisian bronze maker. A planter of a model very close to this one is part of the collections of the Munich Residence.
