Gold tortoiseshell snuff box with a micromosaic of the Temple of Vesta

A gold mounted tortoiseshell snuff box set with a micromosaic of the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli.

The box is English and the micromosaic is Italian, both date to the first quester of the 19th century.

The micromosaic measures 5.6cm in diameter and the box measures 8.5 x 2.6cm.

The micromosaic plaque would have been purchased by a tourist on their grand tour to Italy and mounted within its gold and tortoiseshell snuff box on their return to England.
