This elegant bench in lacquered and gilded wood was made during the Rococo period in Genoa, Italy, around the middle of the 18th century.
The sub-plane band is carved with an undulating profile with reserves interspersed with rocaille motifs and carved plant-like decorations. The six legs are arched and in motion, ending in curled feet. The seat with velvet lining is not coherent. It is anchored to the structure by screws, and is therefore easily removable, allowing the lining to be replaced with ease and without compromising the structure of the bench.
This bench is highly decorative and beautifully finished. Easy to fit into any context, it can be placed in entrances or hallways, in living rooms and studios, in a bedroom at the foot of the bed, suitable for combining with antique and modern furniture.
