Born in Locarno in 1928, Nag Arnoldi is one of the most famous Swiss sculptors in the world. After having trained at the workshops of Mario Chiattone, Antonio Chiattone, Carlo Cotti, Giuseppe Foglia and Filippo Boldini in Lugano, he began exhibiting his works in Ticino and its surroundings in the mid-1950s. During his career he made numerous trips to Mexico, where he came into contact with the indigenous Mayan and Aztec art of the pre-Columbian civilizations, but also to Italy, Puerto Rico and the United States. Among his most famous works there are many sculptures inspired by horses; in several parish churches in the canton of Ticino (for example in Comano, Neggio, Camorino and Calonico, merged in 2005 in Faido) you can also admire frescoes, altars and statues of his composition.
