A Pair of Wall - Lights in Louis XVI Style, Signed Henri Vian

A pair of gilt bronze two light scones in Louis XVI style. Decorated with ribbon knot, acanthus leaves, bucks, stylized flutes and pearls. Nice matte and burnished gilding.

Signed Henri Vian about 1880. The scones are monogrammed and numbered HV 554.

Henri Vian, famous bronzemaker and foundryman, grandfather of Boris Vian, specialised in the manufacturing of furniture bronzes, ornamental vases, chimney pieces and different pieces of lighting. Creator of the grilles of the villa Arnaga, residence of Edmond Rostand in Cambo-les-Bains, Henri Vian participated in the different Universal Exhibitions in 1878, 1889 and 1900 and won a gold medal in 1889. He installed his shops at 5 rue de Thorigny in Paris, today Picasso Museum. After his death in 1905, his wife and then his son Paul (Boris father) took over the "Maison de décoration" till 1944 when the Ville de Paris bought it to install there the "Ecole des Métiers d’Art", now the Picasso Museum.
