This genre painting is attributed to Jacob Ochtervelt.
Born in Rotterdam, in 1634, he studies painting in Haarlem where he was the student of Nicolaes Berchem, then, he returned to Rotterdam where he continued to learn with Ludolf de Jongh.
In 1674, after the rampjaar, he moved to Amsterdam, where he ends his life.
During his activity period, he paints some indoor scene with muscisiens. This scene represents a private concerto.
It was realised between 1670 and 1676, at the end of artist life. The work was preserved at the Boijmans museum like as attested by the label on the back of the work.
