Small can be very beautiful indeed: a marvellous little alabaster head of a boy-bishop. Weathered and losses (nose, part of mitre ..) but excellent quality of the carving. Magnificent meditative, inward directed look of the eyes. This is the greyish gypsum alabaster with minuscule cracks and dark veining. UV-analysis reveils remains of gold paint. France, ca 1400. On a contemporary metal stand. Dimensions (without stand): 10x7x5cm
