Gothic chest with napkin folds

With a simple composition, this walnut wood chest is assembled with mortises and tenons. It rests on a base cut out of two braces.

It presents in facade a continuation of four arcs in full arch under which are carved very tight folds of towels, of beautiful quality. The spandrels are decorated with flowers. Each arch is separated by a torso column carved in flat. In the center, under the lock, two lancets imitate Gothic windows.
The panels are worked in the mass.

The sides are carved with a semi-circular arch. They are provided with wrought iron handles.

The flap is connected to the body of the chest by two iron hinges.

Thus, everything in this chest recalls the Gothic architectural vocabulary, making this chest a work of fine quality of the huchiers of the extreme end of the fifteenth century.
