According to the reference marble present at the Louvre Museum since 1824, this bronze statuette was published by the Maison Barbedienne around 1890 (late nineteenth century), on the basis are the manufacturing stamps and the name of the sculptor. Exemplary benefiting from an irreproachable carving and finish, the brown patina is original and beautiful depth.
Christophe Gabriel Allegrain, author of the original work, was born in Paris in 1710, his studio is installed in the Marais district where Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (who will become his collaborator and brother-in-law) is also present.
