Offered by Borrelli Antichita
Oil on canvas representing the Adoration of the Magi, a favorite theme of ancient painting that relies on a traditional iconography, where the three kings sumptuously dressed are represented before the figures of the Holy Family, placed on the left of the composition.
The eldest, kneeling in adoration of the Child kissing his foot, has already placed the gift at the feet of the Virgin, while the second and third are waiting for their moment to honor the sacred event, their precious gifts still in their hands. .
The composition is very versatile and cleverly calibrated in the colors, especially in those continuous contrasts between the very light and slightly darker parts.
As a perspective background, there are two clouds??with cherubs observing the sacred event.
