Important cameo mounted on a brooch Agate, gold, enamel and ruby

Cameo on grey agate depicting a young woman looking to the right. The artist has meticulously carved the white vein of the agate to bring the delicate profile to life. The young woman is wearing an antique dress. Her hair is knotted and braided and decorated with flowers and a tiara. She is wearing a set of half pearls including earrings and a necklace. The agate is set in a gold frame with a chased gold frieze, a black enamel net and rubies.
