Pair of Louis XV period Venetian bedside tables
veneered in walnut and olive burl.
Middle of the XVIIIth century
Measures width. 52 x depth 30 x h. 80
Splendid and very rare pair of authentic Louis XV bedside tables of Venetian origin.
They represent the highest level reached by the famous rococo cabinet making of the lagoon city.
The extraordinary movements of these two jewels express in an excellent way the unequalled skills of the craftsmen working in the workshops of Venice during the golden century of the Serenissima.
The proportions are perfect and the superficial design of precious woods, such as walnut and olive burl in a symmetrical way, creates optical effects of extreme elegance.
The richly carved skirt is supported by wavy legs ending in raptor feet that hold spheres, of the type that identifies the habit of Venetian cabinetmakers of the highest level.
The restoration, thanks to the excellent state of conservation, has been limited to the restoration of the small defects and the polishing with shellac applied with a pad.
The photos refer to the state before the intervention.
