A Louis XV dressing table of Dauphiné

Dressing table of Dauphiné of Louis XV period.
Female vanity known as "coiffeuse" in walnut wood of the Dauphiné inlaid with a geometric linear and quadrilateral decoration of rhombuses and rectangles in ebony fillets enhanced by moldings rechampies of a black aqueous carbon pigment called black ink of China. Of rectangular shape, its tray is divided into three parts, one central and two lateral. The central flap is lined with a mirror of convenience and is articulated on a crosspiece shaded on a slide sliding on the entire depth of the furniture. In order to adjust its approach according to the quality of vision of everyone. The symmetrical side flaps hinge outwards to optimize the flat capacity of the dressing table once they are deployed. Each of them uncovers two cavities of diverging depths. Indeed, the one on the left is dedicated to receive the removable box with hinged lid where perfume bottles, powder boxes and other creams and ointments were stored; the one on the right is dedicated only to the storage of combs and hairbrushes and does not require such depth. This trick makes it possible to add a drawer in front sliding under the box. This one in complement of the central drawer where slides a writing tablet sheathed of maroquins, was provided with small casters in order to lodge the inkwell, the pens and the powder in order to dry the ink of the soft bills. For aesthetic reasons, in order to balance the general visual of the facade, these two drawers are applied; each of them is accompanied symmetrically, by false drawers in relief. It should be noted that the lateral parts of the belt of this dressing table receive the same treatment in order to harmonize this to the front. The set rests on a base with four fine and elegant feet, slightly arched, punctuated with a simulated deer hoof in ebony veneer and a net of the same species to harmonize the whole. Work of the Dauphiné probably Grenoble of the middle of the XVIIIth century of Louis XV period. Dimensions height 73cm, width 81cm and depth 48.5cm. Restorations of use and maintenance, very good condition of house.
