Louis XV period cartel Signed Autray in Paris, in Boulle marquetry on a ground of brown tortoiseshell and partly engraved brass and counterpart with symmetrical decoration of windings, flowers and foliage foliage. Violin-shaped, it opens on the front by a glass door revealing a contrasting decoration of brass and rosewood in accelerated perspective and at the back by a door decorated with brass marquetry on a tortoiseshell background. The pediment of the cartel is surmounted by a love holding an hourglass and eagle heads, on the console large winged medallions in the angles and deer heads complete the decoration. The dial is composed of twenty-four cartridges enamelled with Roman numerals for the hours and twelve cartridges enamelled with Arabic numerals in increments of five for the minutes, on a chiseled and gilded bronze background.
