French Louis XIII sideboard "Four Seasons", early 17th century

Exceptional sideboard, in walnut, opening with four doors and a large front drawer,
The doors have a very beautiful decoration carved with the allegories of the four seasons:

- LE PRINTEMPS is a young woman carrying a cornucopia with flowers.
- SUMMER represents “harvest time” with a woman carrying a sheaf of wheat and a sickle.
- AUTUMN represents the harvest with a young man wearing vine leaves holding a pitcher of wine.
- WINTER is an old man, warmly dressed, surrounded by two braziers.

The uprights, crosspieces and sides are finely carved with flowers, foliage, birds and the heads of winged cherubs.
There is a crown of marquis on the upper rail. This testifies to the refinement of this very beautiful piece of furniture.
