Japan, An umimatsu kizeruzutsu, Iwami school, Edo period, late 18th, early

Rare kizeruzutsu, umimatsu pipe case, black coral, also called sea pine. The sculptor played with the natural material and its colors using a simple motif of fingered lemons also called Buddha's hands citrus. This type of work and the use of this material is quite characteristic of the Iwami area. Even if it is not signed, this kizeruzutsu is very similar to the work of SeiyodonTomoharu, 1733-1810.
With a bamboo and silver metal pipe.
22x5x3cm
