Set of four silver plaquettes with the Evangelists, XVIIth century

Fantastic and rare set of Baroque silver plaques, representing the four Evangelists and their symbols: Saint John and the eagle, San Luke and the bull, Saint Mark and the lion, San Matthew and the angel.

Each plaque is embossed and finely incised, most of the area worked in high relief, with a great level of detail even on the background, decorated with tiny but loose and precise figures, in scenes related with every evangelist life.

The set is presented in a velvet upholstered stand.

Dimensions: 6,5 x 10 cm each.
In very good condition
Bears later silver control mark, probably of Dutch origin.
