Oil on canvas. 17th C French School. Presumed portrait of, 28 years old, Madame de Sévigné; dated 1654, period when she used to go to Literary Salon held in the Hôtel de Rambouillet (mentioned in the back of the frame). She appears in head and shoulders portrait, inserted into an oval, richly dressed, centred among a garland of flowers. Period carved and lacquered wooden frame.
