Furniture and Works of Art from the 17th, 18th and early 19th century
Wardrobe opening with two doors each adorned with two Boulle marquetry panels with brass motifs on a tortoiseshell background. Each panel is adorned with a bronze rod with a pattern of water leaves in an ebony frame underlined by two brass nets.
The uprights are adorned in the upper part of a ram's head terminated by a large sheet of acanthus.
The furniture rests on an ebony plinth adorned with gilded bronze motifs, while the cornice is adorned with a band of large acanthus leaves.
The so-called "Boulle Revival" was fully developed during the reign of Napoleon III. It was not a copy of André-Charles Boulle's furniture, but a simplified cover of his work.
